Dr. Renee Gray
A true “California Girl,” she was born in San Diego and grew up in San Jose. She absolutely fell in love with California’s Central Coast while attending (and graduating from) Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She received a very practical, “learn by doing,” education there and then again in graduate school at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. As a new veterinarian, she ended up in western Washington state to start her career.
Dr. Renee worked for mixed animal practices right out of school, then ran a primarily equine ambulatory practice for several years. She opened and operated a wonderful small animal hospital for 21 years. This hospital truly became part of a lovely suburban community. Her entire team was very involved in local rescues and shelters as well as human food banks and other community services. She recently sold her beloved practice with the intention of moving back to California to be closer to family.
Dr. Renee has established positive, long-term relationships with clients through clear communication and empathy about their pets’ health and care. She specifically set out to acquire more knowledge and skills to help counsel clients on their pet’s behavior issues, particularly anxiety and/or aggression. Enhancing human-animal relationships is one of her favorite parts of this career.
Dr. Renee has a special interest and advanced training in soft tissue and many orthopedic surgeries and loves the variety of working with small mammal and other exotic animal patients including experience with backyard poultry. She has gained experience in the special demands of exotic pet medicine and surgery, and considers essential client education in appropriate husbandry, diet, and other aspects of their care.
